Dodge Ram 2500 was a heavy-duty, full-size truck that released in 1994, replacing its one-ton SRW predecessor, and ran until 2010, when the RAM name split off from Dodge to form its own brand.
Initially, engine options included 5.9-liter, six-cylinder diesel, 5.2-liter V8, 5.9-liter V8, and 8.0-liter V10. The following year, in 1995, a 5.2-liter V8 became available that ran on compressed natural gas (CNG). By 2003, three trims had become options: SLT, ST, and Laramie, and the 2006 model year brought with it a choice of Sport, TRX4, and Power Wagon trims, among others.
By 2007, one could choose between 6.7-liter Cummins I6 turbodiesel and 5.7-liter V8 engines, and transmission options included six-speed manual, four-speed auto, and six-speed auto. Two- and four-wheel drivetrains (2WD and 4WD) were offered, as were regular, quad, and Mega cab configurations. Features ranged widely as well, from air conditioning and a rear-bumper step to chrome wheels and power-adjustable pedals -- even perks like a limited-slip differential and fog lights.
In 2010, a crew cab was made available, as were 6-foot-4-inch and 8-foot box sizes and single- and dual-rear-wheel configurations. Options on the Power Wagon trim for instance included electric-locking front and rear differentials, Bilstein shocks, skid plates, and an electronic disconnecting sway bar. You could also get technologies galore.
